From its humble beginnings in 1999 as a small-town primary care clinic, through its 2008 transition to a 501(c)(3) National Health Service-approved site, to becoming a FQHC look-alike in August 2022, BCCHC has been led by Dr. Randy Hancock, CEO. As a primary care physician, Dr. Hancock experienced the unmet healthcare needs of the community on a daily basis. He was compelled to implement a system of care that was available to all members of the community regardless of their ability to pay. Dr. Hancock worked with community leaders who supported his vision to develop a 501(c)(3), supporting a primary care service delivery system addressing the needs of local vulnerable populations.
Black Canyon Community Health Center now has multiple direct care providers which include a full-time CEO/Physician, Physician Assistants, Nurse Practitioners, and a Licensed Professional Counselor. Aside from the providers directly contracted to work for the health center, there are also specialists who visit our facilities and provide care on-site on a part-time basis. This has resulted in a broad array of specialty services which are available on-site that complement the primary care services provided directly by BCCHC.
Black Canyon Community Health Center is currently providing all FQHC-required primary health care services and served 2,597 patients in 2023. Black Canyon Community Health Center provides most of the required services on-site to better meet the needs of its isolated service areas. We are the only full-time clinic around for miles and the number of patients is rapidly growing. Over the last five years, the number of patients has almost tripled from 898 patients in 2019 to 2597 patients in 2023.
